Pick and Roll:

- Artis is great at turning the corner using ball screens, protecting the ball with his body, and finishing at the hoop with contact

- Streaky shooter off ball screens, but can get hot

- Defensively, Pitt switches everything so it is hard to gauge how good of a pick-and-roll defender he is - nevertheless, his size, thickness, and long arms allow him the ability to switch or stay with guards and affect their shot no matter what

Abilities and Areas of Improvement:

- Plays PG at 6'7 - can see over defenders and also tries to bully PGs on the block - like Livingston

- Really long arms - covers a lot of ground with hands up at point of attack

- Well-rounded offense - Artis can do everything well on the offensive end

- Head always up, looking to make the pass ahead

Game Analysis:

- vs. Maryland

- #0 Anthony Cowan

- #2 Melo Trimble

- #1 Jaylen Brantley

- #11 Jared Nickens

- Backs down Trimble on deep left block, shoves him but no call, turns around and hits jumper

- Good communication with switches

- Steals entry pass to big, weaves through lane in transition, uses body to shield ball and hits right handed floater over D

- Pulls up behind screen in transition from 3 - miss

- Great one handed bounce pass ahead in transition for a dunk

- Drives left in transition, past his man, challenges the big and finishes with his left - draws contact, leans into defender to take him out of play and get layin - thick - FT 1/1

- Curls around screen at right 45, hits 3 pointer

- Cuts off skip pass back to PG, gets steal and transition dunk

- Double team comes on the left post and stripped him

- In transition finds big running floor under hoop with left handed scoop pass - layup and 1

- Uses right ball screen then pulls up and hits 3 pointer

- Airballs left block fadeaway jumper on smaller guard

- Contested 3 pointer from a good distance away - his arms are really long

- Catch and shoot right 45 3 - miss

- Tips entry pass into high post (Pittsburgh playing zone)

- Spin move at right elbow then jumper - miss - good D by Trimble

- Catches right 45, middle ball screen, gets right to the hoop but misses left handed layup

- Catches in post vs. Trimble who goes high side, help comes and he gets fouled driving - can cause a mismatch at any level - FTs 1/2

- Catch left corner, drives, draws help, kicks to open shooter relocated at left 45 - miss

- Great feed in transition above the defense to teammate ahead of the pack - floated it in

- Right ball screen, went slowly into the paint with man on hip and hit easy bank floater on right

NBA Comparison: Shaun Livingston/Iman Shumpert

Current Ability: 6.5

Projection as an NBA Player: 7

Projected Draft Spot: 2nd Round

Opinion: Artis is a baller. He is thick, can play PG, and guard multiple positions defensively. He is not an elite shooter or playmaker, but he is good at everything and knows how to get what he wants on the floor. He plays very similar to how Iman Shumpert did at Georgia Tech and Shaun Livingston does on Golden State.
