Pick and Roll:

- Nightmare offensively as he can roll quickly and throw his bulk around in the paint, or pop out to the 3 point line

Abilities and Areas of Improvement:

- Explosive athlete

- Versatile

- 7'0 wingspan - can cover a lot of distance and guard much bigger players - reminds me of Draymond (not the passer Draymond is but similar body, athleticism, and versatility)

- Can show and recover well

- Strong rebounder - moves bodies in the paint

- His game is not simplified but he only takes shots and makes passes he is comfortable with - doesn't force

- He is old - 22 almost 23

- Goes up strong

- Will not be pushed off his spot

Game Analysis:

- vs. Gonzaga

- #3 Johnathan Williams

- #24 Przemek Karnowski

- #33 Killian Tillie

- #32 Zach Collins

- Misses left 45 catch and shoot 3

- Catches deep beyond 3 point left, drives left, goes behind back, fades and hits midrange jumper - incredible agility for someone his size

- Dribbles right for handoff, decides to take jumper instead, hits deep 2 in rhythm - lefty

- Catches at 3 point line, drives straightaway with left, 2 dribbles up and under a little wild misses - still covers a lot of ground very quickly, especially for his thickness - he drives hungry

- Playing Centre vs. Killian Tillie

- Poor closeout on right 45 3 Williams-Goss - flies by and he hits 3

- Catches near right corner 3, pump fakes right, drives right - travel - still incredible fakes and quickness

- Crashed glass off Morris jumper miss - beat defender to the boards, when Gonzaga player got ball he stripped him and bullied him to get layin

- Sets ball screen at right 45, slips it, good defensive rotation by Gonzaga to contest shot - missed jumper short right side, in and out

- Catches in middle of the zone, turns and floats it in with left

- Very strong body - goes up for rebound, not best boxout positioning, but still gets ball and is not moved off his spot

- Pick and roll to left short 45, almost gets stripped and forces tough bank shot - miss, bad shot

- Insane coverage - shows to stop pick-and-roll, recovers to help defense and force big to pass, loses his man Collins who goes up for a dunk and blocks him - strong at the rim

- Poor defense on Tillie - lets him catch and release FT line jumper - needed to closeout much better

- Great bounce pass backdoor to Mitrou-Long - 2nd good bounce pass he has made through defenders

- Good defensive rebound in traffic

- On baseline inbounds, gets caught helping to deny the corner shooter and leaves Karnowski rolling to the hoop untouched for a layin

- Good left handed skip pass to left 45

- Fighting Karnowski in the post, lets him get way too deep - Karnowski simply catches turns and scores - too big for Burton

- Catches on left close to the hoop, goes up on Karnowski, who stays straight up, and Burton misses high layup off glass - was looking to draw foul

- Parnowski again catches way too deep and Burton just gives up and lets him lay it in - can't guard him (he is 7'1 and very thick)

- Catches deep on left 45, one dribble, pullup 3 hits in rhythm

- Long dribble left, backs into defender, then turns and hits fadeaway left short corner jumper

- Catches right low post, backs down, finds weakside corner shooter - missed 3 - another impressive pass

- Ball screen on Morris with Karnowski guarding him, pops to the 3 point line and hits straightaway 3

- In transition alone with multiple defenders back, gives in-out dribble at right 45, pulls up and hits jumper - smooth

- Drives left, tries to force tough pass into big on right block - tipped out of bounds

- Drives right on Collins from right 45, misses layin trying to draw foul, gets own offensive rebound and banks it in - he will be a bully in the NBA

- Catch and shoot fadeaway jumper straightaway - hits again, on fire, no conscience

- Outrebounded by Tillie - went right over top of him and put it back in on defensive glass

- Catches right high post, quick turn left, elevates, bumped hard by Karnowski but still floats it up and in with his left

- In help blocks Karnowski at the rim with his left - very strong with his hands

- Catches right corner 3, pumps, one dribble pullup off balance, misses

- Catches left block, spins left, misses layin deep - was obviously closer than he thought he was

- Catches right short corner, up and under reverse layup

- Catch and shoot right 45 3 - swish

- Great boxout - just pushed Perkins out of way for teammate to get rebound

- Good help on Karnowski deep in post to force miss after he beat his man

- Good show again to stop drive

- Down 1 with 20 seconds left he settled for 3 with Collins on him - should have driven he had space

NBA Comparison: Julius Randle

Current Ability: 7

Projection as an NBA Player: 7.5

Projected Draft Spot: Undrafted

Opinion: Sleeper pick. Teams will dislike that Burton is 22, seemingly without the potential to grow and minimal years of prime play left. But, this is the first year Burton has gotten a chance to shine. He is very thick, but moves fast and can shoot from anywhere. He can bully almost anyone but 7'0 Centres. With a 7'0 wingspan, he can guard bigger players despite only being 6'5. He is an aware passer and makes the right play when it is there. Serious NBA starter potential and maybe more.
